KATHMANDU: While Unified CPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was delivering a political speech to inaugurate today’s session of Swami Ramdev’s yoga camp in Tundikhel, the participants starting protesting, forcing him to shorten his speech.

According to a participant, Prachanda cut short his speech after his son Prakash Dahal informed him from behind that the participants were protesting his political speech.

In his speech Dahal had claimed that he wanted his party to adopt yoga for better lifestyle and health.

He claimed that he realised that the traditional fitness procedure could help Nepal at a time when it was gearing up to write a just constitution for its people. “The fusion of positive energy of yoga and the Communist ideology could make Nepal more dynamic,” he said.

Meanwhile in Janakpurdham, Swami Ramdev today expressed his firm conviction that Nepal would soon witness sustainable peace and stability. Talking to mediapersons at Zonal Police Office in Janakpur this morning, he said, “I have met top leaders of the Nepal’s political parties, including UCPN-Maoist supremo Prachanda. Since they all are committed to peace and stability, peace will prevail in Nepal at

the earliest.”

According to Swami Ram Dev, he met Prachanda at the Mega Yoga Camp in Kathmandu, where he was one of the participants of the event this morning.

“I talked to Prachanda about the restoration of sustainable peace and development in Nepal,” he added.

Mentioning deep historical and social ties between Nepal and India, Swami Ramdev said, “India is not only a friend but also a good neighbour of Nepal.”

He said that he would urge the authorities

concerned to declare historical and religious town Janakpur as liquor and meat-free area.

Once a staunch opponent of introducing yoga education in Nepal, Maoist leader Prachanda on Monday participated in a yoga session of Baba Ramdev and said the practice helps in "social transformation".



Participating in a yoga session at Dhulikhel near here, Prachanda said, "yoga not only cures your body but has an effect on mind as well." "It also helps in social transformation".



Prachanda, who firmly opposed ushering in yoga lessons in Nepal in 2007, participated in the yoga session after accepting Ramdev's request in this regard. The Maoist leader also lauded the Indian yoga guru's "historic" contribution in education and research of yoga science.



"If Maoism meets yoga and its spirituality, it would facilitate peace and prosperity," Ramdev said at the session, where Prachanda remained for around half an hour and preformed various 'asanas' like 'Pranayam' and 'Kapalvati'.
